Description

A flavorful and quick weeknight dish made with a whole onion, seasoned and air-fried for a delightful meal.


Ingredients

  • 1 large white onion (peeled, root intact)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil (or melted butter)
  • 1 tsp Old Bay or Cajun seasoning (adjust to taste)
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter (melted, for drizzling)
  • 1 clove garlic (minced)
  • Juice of ½ lemon (optional)
  • Fresh parsley (chopped, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Peel the onion and leave the root intact. Place it in a bowl and drizzle with olive oil.
  2. Season the onion with salt, pepper, Old Bay seasoning, smoked paprika, and coat every surface.
  3. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) and cook the onion for 20-25 minutes, checking for doneness at 15 minutes.
  4. Melt butter in a small pan, add minced garlic, and cook until fragrant (about 1-2 minutes).
  5. Drizzle the garlic butter over the cooked onion and add lemon juice and parsley as a garnish.
  6. Slice the onion into wedges and serve warm.
