Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • Oil for frying
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt.
  2. Add eggs, vanilla extract, and sour cream; stir until a dough begins to form.
  3. Dust a clean surface with flour and knead the dough gently for 3-5 minutes.
  4. Roll out the dough into an 1/8 inch thick rectangle and cut into 2-inch strips.
  5. Twist each strip into a knot shape.
  6. Heat oil to 350°F.
  7. Fry cookies for 2-3 minutes per side or until golden brown.
  8. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels; dust generously with powdered sugar.

Notes

These cookies can be customized by adding cinnamon or chocolate chips. They can be frozen for up to a month.
