Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 1/2 tbsp rice vinegar (or white vinegar)
  • 2 tbsp sweet relish
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 tbsp chili flakes (optional)
  • 1/2 bag frozen fries
  • Cheddar cheese or American cheese
  • 2 onions (diced)
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp neutral oil
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Caramelize the onions: Melt butter in a skillet over medium-low heat, add oil, then diced onions and salt. Cook for about 30 minutes until golden brown.
  2. Make the sauce: Combine mayonnaise, ketchup, vinegar, relish, sugar, and chili flakes in a bowl and mix well.
  3. Fry or bake the fries according to package instructions until golden and crispy.
  4. Cheese time: Scatter cheese over the fries and broil for 3-5 minutes until melted.
  5. Assemble: Top fries with caramelized onions and drizzle sauce over the top.
