Description

An incredibly delicious homemade caramel sauce that’s quick, easy, and perfect for drizzling over desserts.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, add 1 cup of granulated sugar over medium heat and stir constantly for about 5-7 minutes until it melts and turns golden amber.
  2. Carefully add in 6 tablespoons of unsalted butter, stirring continuously until fully melted in about 1 minute.
  3. Gradually pour in 1/2 cup of heavy cream while stirring until it settles down, which should take about 1 minute.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in 1 teaspoon of sea salt and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
  5. Let it cool slightly before transferring to a glass jar for storage.

Notes

This sauce thickens as it cools; microwave for 15-20 seconds to loosen before use. Can be frozen and thawed in the fridge.
