Description

A quick and easy puff pastry tart topped with caramelized onions and Gruyère cheese, perfect for busy weeknights.


Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup Gruyère cheese, grated
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves
  • 1 egg, for egg wash

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and salt; cook until golden brown and caramelized (15-20 minutes).
  3. Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface to fit a tart pan or baking sheet.
  4. Spread the caramelized onions evenly over the pastry, then sprinkle with Gruyère cheese and thyme.
  5. Beat the egg and brush the edges of the pastry with it.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until the pastry is golden brown.
  7. Let cool for a minute, slice, and serve warm.
