Description

This incredibly delicious Quick and Easy Cheese Bread comes together in about 60 minutes and is baked until golden brown for a cozy weeknight meal your family will love!


Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water (110°F/43°C)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar or mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • Optional: Herbs (e.g., rosemary or oregano)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine 1 cup warm water with 1 tsp sugar. Sprinkle 2 tsp active dry yeast on top and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together 3 cups all-purpose flour and 1 tsp salt.
  3. Create a well in the center of the flour mixture. Pour in the yeast mixture and add 2 tbsp olive oil.
  4. Gently stir until just combined.
  5. Dump the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  6. Fold in 1 ½ cups shredded cheese and any herbs you’re using.
  7. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm spot until it doubles in size, about 1 hour.
  8. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  9. Punch down the dough, shape it into a loaf or rolls, and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  10. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  11. Let cool for a few minutes before slicing.

You can use any leftover cheese or fresh herbs you might have on hand.
