Description

A quick and delicious cherry syrup perfect for pancakes, bringing sweet, comforting flavors to your breakfast.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh or frozen cherries
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 lemon, juice
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons cold water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine 2 cups of cherries, 1 cup of sugar, and 1 cup of water over medium heat.
  2. Turn up the heat and bring the mixture to a boil, stirring occasionally until the sugar dissolves.
  3. Reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. In a small bowl, mix 2 tablespoons of cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of cold water to create a slurry.
  5. Slowly pour the cornstarch mixture into your simmering pot, stirring frequently until thickened.
  6. Stir in the juice of half a lemon and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, cooking for an additional 2 minutes.
  7. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly before serving over pancakes or other treats.
