Description
A delightful combination of crunchy Doritos stuffed with creamy, bacony goodness, perfect for family gatherings and movie nights.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 bag Nacho Cheese Doritos (choose large chips for easier stuffing)
- 8 oz (226 g) cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup (≈56 g) shredded cheddar cheese
- 4 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper (freshly ground if possible)
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 1 cup (≈125 g) all-purpose flour
- 1 cup (≈100 g) panko breadcrumbs
- Oil for frying (vegetable, canola, or sunflower oil, enough to have 2–3 inches in the pan)
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar, crumbled bacon, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and black pepper. Mix until smooth and homogenous.
- Set up a little assembly line with flour in a shallow plate, beaten egg in another, and panko breadcrumbs in a third.
- Work with two similarly sized Doritos at a time. Place a small dollop of the cream cheese mixture on one chip and press another on top to create a ‘sandwich’, sealing the edges.
- Lightly dust each stuffed Dorito in flour, dip them into the beaten egg, and coat thoroughly in panko breadcrumbs.
- Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C). Fry the stuffed Doritos in small batches for about 30–45 seconds per side until golden and crispy.
- Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels or a wire rack. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
Let the cream cheese soften to room temperature for easier mixing. Consider using gluten-free flour or dairy-free cream cheese for alternatives.
