- 4 chicken thighs (bone-in or boneless)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, sliced
- 1 tablespoon butter
- ¼ cup Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1 tablespoon flour
- 1¼ cups heavy cream
- ¼ cup fresh cilantro, chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Heat up the olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Sear the chicken thighs with salt and pepper for about 5 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside on a plate.
- Add the onion and garlic to the pan, stirring frequently for 2-3 minutes until the onion is translucent.
- Stir in the ground ginger, Dijon mustard, and honey for about a minute.
- Sprinkle the flour into the skillet and stir quickly to form a roux.
- Pour in the heavy cream while whisking, and bring to a simmer.
- Reduce the heat to low and return the chicken to the skillet.
- Cover and let it simmer on low for about 20 minutes, turning the chicken halfway through.
- Sprinkle with fresh cilantro before serving.
Notes
This dish is customizable with various proteins and vegetables. Serve with rice or bread to soak up the sauce.
