Description

A quick, one-pot cream chicken dish that is easy to make and perfect for busy weeknights.


Ingredients

  • 4 chicken thighs (bone-in or boneless)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • ¼ cup Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 1¼ cups heavy cream
  • ¼ cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat up the olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Sear the chicken thighs with salt and pepper for about 5 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  3. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside on a plate.
  4. Add the onion and garlic to the pan, stirring frequently for 2-3 minutes until the onion is translucent.
  5. Stir in the ground ginger, Dijon mustard, and honey for about a minute.
  6. Sprinkle the flour into the skillet and stir quickly to form a roux.
  7. Pour in the heavy cream while whisking, and bring to a simmer.
  8. Reduce the heat to low and return the chicken to the skillet.
  9. Cover and let it simmer on low for about 20 minutes, turning the chicken halfway through.
  10. Sprinkle with fresh cilantro before serving.

Notes

This dish is customizable with various proteins and vegetables. Serve with rice or bread to soak up the sauce.
