- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup milk
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
- 2–3 tablespoons milk (for glaze)
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (for glaze)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
- Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy for about 2-3 minutes.
- Add the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until combined.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth out the top.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- While the cake is baking, mix together the powdered sugar, milk, and cinnamon in a small bowl until smooth and glossy.
- Once the cake is out of the oven and cooled for about 10-15 minutes, pour the glaze over the top and let set before serving.
Notes
Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or fresh berries for a delightful treat. The cake can be stored in the refrigerator for 3-4 days and frozen for 2-3 months.
