A mouthwatering lasagna that comes together in about 60 minutes, perfect for weeknight dinners!

- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- ½ pound ground beef
- ½ pound ground pork
- 1 cup red wine (or beef broth)
- 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 2 teaspoons dried oregano
- 2 teaspoons dried basil
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 12–14 lasagna noodles, cooked and drained
- 2 cups whole milk
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 4 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- Fresh basil, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat, add onion and sauté for about 5 minutes until translucent. Add garlic and cook for another 30 seconds.
- Add ground beef and pork, cooking for 8-10 minutes until browned, scraping the bottom of the pan.
- Pour in red wine (or beef broth) and let reduce for 3-4 minutes. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- In a separate saucepan, melt butter over medium heat, whisk in flour and cook for about 2 minutes. Slowly add milk, whisking to avoid lumps. Cook until thickened, about 5-7 minutes. Stir in half of the Parmesan, salt, and pepper.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). In a baking dish, layer meat sauce, noodles, béchamel, meat sauce, and mozzarella cheese. Repeat layers and finish with béchamel topped with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan.
- Cover with foil and bake for about 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for another 15-20 minutes until cheese is golden brown. Let rest for 10 minutes before serving, garnished with fresh basil.
