Description

An incredibly easy Gordon Ramsay Onion Boil Recipe that comes together in about 30 minutes, perfect for a comforting family dinner.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 45 Large Sweet Onions (Vidalia or Walla Walla)
  • 4 cups Chicken or Vegetable Stock
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted Butter
  • 5 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp Smoked Paprika
  • 1 tsp Lemon Pepper
  • 1/2 tsp Cayenne Pepper (adjust for heat)
  • 34 sprigs Fresh Thyme
  • 1/2 Fresh Lemon (for juicing)
  • Salt & Black Pepper to taste
  • Fresh Parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Peel the outer skins off the onions and trim the very tip of the root. Slice into thick wedges.
  2. Bring the stock to a gentle simmer and add the onion wedges. Simmer for 12-15 minutes until fork-tender.
  3. Melt the butter in a skillet over medium-low heat. Add minced garlic and thyme; cook for about 2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Stir in smoked paprika, lemon pepper, and cayenne; let spices bloom for 1 minute.
  5. Remove onions from stock and place into the butter skillet. Gently stir, spooning melted butter sauce over onions for 2-3 minutes.
  6. Squeeze fresh lemon juice over the top and season with salt and pepper. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve warm.

Notes

Perfect to serve with crusty bread or a green salad. This dish can be kept in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and is freezer-friendly for up to 3 months.
