An incredibly easy Gordon Ramsay Onion Boil Recipe that comes together in about 30 minutes, perfect for a comforting family dinner.

- 4–5 Large Sweet Onions (Vidalia or Walla Walla)
- 4 cups Chicken or Vegetable Stock
- 1/2 cup Unsalted Butter
- 5 cloves Garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp Smoked Paprika
- 1 tsp Lemon Pepper
- 1/2 tsp Cayenne Pepper (adjust for heat)
- 3–4 sprigs Fresh Thyme
- 1/2 Fresh Lemon (for juicing)
- Salt & Black Pepper to taste
- Fresh Parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Peel the outer skins off the onions and trim the very tip of the root. Slice into thick wedges.
- Bring the stock to a gentle simmer and add the onion wedges. Simmer for 12-15 minutes until fork-tender.
- Melt the butter in a skillet over medium-low heat. Add minced garlic and thyme; cook for about 2 minutes until fragrant.
- Stir in smoked paprika, lemon pepper, and cayenne; let spices bloom for 1 minute.
- Remove onions from stock and place into the butter skillet. Gently stir, spooning melted butter sauce over onions for 2-3 minutes.
- Squeeze fresh lemon juice over the top and season with salt and pepper. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve warm.
Notes
Perfect to serve with crusty bread or a green salad. This dish can be kept in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and is freezer-friendly for up to 3 months.
