Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups cooked rice
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- Soy sauce (to taste)
- Optional: diced veggies, shredded cheese, cooked protein (like chicken or tofu)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine cooked rice with vegetable oil, salt, pepper, and soy sauce to flavor the rice and make it more pliable.
- With clean hands, take about a golf ball-sized amount of rice and shape it into a ball, firm enough to hold its shape.
- Preheat the grill or grill pan on medium heat and grease the grill grate lightly to avoid sticking.
- Grill the rice balls for about 5-7 minutes on each side, turning occasionally, until golden-brown and crispy on the outside.
- Serve with a dipping sauce made from soy sauce, sesame oil, and chopped scallions, if desired.
Notes
These rice balls can be made ahead and stored in the fridge for up to 3 days, or frozen uncooked for up to a month.
