Description

Delicious Grilled Rice Balls that come together in about 30 minutes, perfect as a snack, side dish, or light meal. Customize the fillings based on what you have!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups cooked rice
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • Soy sauce (to taste)
  • Optional: diced veggies, shredded cheese, cooked protein (like chicken or tofu)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine cooked rice with vegetable oil, salt, pepper, and soy sauce to flavor the rice and make it more pliable.
  2. With clean hands, take about a golf ball-sized amount of rice and shape it into a ball, firm enough to hold its shape.
  3. Preheat the grill or grill pan on medium heat and grease the grill grate lightly to avoid sticking.
  4. Grill the rice balls for about 5-7 minutes on each side, turning occasionally, until golden-brown and crispy on the outside.
  5. Serve with a dipping sauce made from soy sauce, sesame oil, and chopped scallions, if desired.

Notes

These rice balls can be made ahead and stored in the fridge for up to 3 days, or frozen uncooked for up to a month.
