Ingredients

  • 8 ounces pasta (e.g., spaghetti or penne)
  • 1 pound ground chicken
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Grated Parmesan cheese for serving
  • Fresh basil for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta in a large pot of salted boiling water according to package instructions until al dente, about 8-10 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté for about 3-4 minutes until translucent.
  3. Add the ground chicken to the skillet and cook for about 5-7 minutes, breaking it apart until no longer pink and browned.
  4. Stir in the diced tomatoes and Italian seasoning. Season generously with salt and pepper, and let simmer for about 5 minutes.
  5. Fold in the cooked pasta and toss to coat everything evenly.
  6. Spoon servings into bowls and top with freshly grated Parmesan cheese and a sprinkle of basil if desired.
