Ingredients

- 8 ounces pasta (e.g., spaghetti or penne)
- 1 pound ground chicken
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Grated Parmesan cheese for serving
- Fresh basil for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Cook the pasta in a large pot of salted boiling water according to package instructions until al dente, about 8-10 minutes. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté for about 3-4 minutes until translucent.
- Add the ground chicken to the skillet and cook for about 5-7 minutes, breaking it apart until no longer pink and browned.
- Stir in the diced tomatoes and Italian seasoning. Season generously with salt and pepper, and let simmer for about 5 minutes.
- Fold in the cooked pasta and toss to coat everything evenly.
- Spoon servings into bowls and top with freshly grated Parmesan cheese and a sprinkle of basil if desired.
Notes
Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. This dish also freezes well for up to 3 months.
