- 1 loaf of bread (cubed)
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 onion (diced)
- 2–3 celery stalks (diced)
- 2–3 cups vegetable or chicken broth
- 1 tablespoon dried sage
- 1 tablespoon dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley (chopped)
- 1 cup cooked sausage (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Add the diced onion and celery, and sauté until softened (about 5-7 minutes).
- In a large bowl, combine the cubed bread, sautéed vegetables, broth, herbs, salt, pepper, and parsley.
- If using, fold in the cooked sausage.
- Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish.
- Bake for 30-40 minutes until the top is golden brown and crispy.
- Serve warm as a side dish.
Notes
This stuffing can be customized with leftover vegetables or different herbs. Stores well in the refrigerator for 3-4 days or can be frozen for up to three months.
