Instructions
- In a big bowl, mix the cornmeal, flour, baking powder, and salt together until thoroughly combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk and egg until well combined.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined; the batter should be thick.
- Pour vegetable oil into a deep fryer or pot and heat to 375°F.
- Insert wooden skewers into each hot dog.
- Roll each skewered hot dog into the batter until completely covered.
- Carefully drop the battered corn dogs into the hot oil and fry for 3-5 minutes until golden brown.
- Remove from oil and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
