Description

A wonderfully delicious candy that comes together in about 30 minutes, perfect for a cozy evening at home.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup light corn syrup
  • ⅛ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Butter for greasing
  • Optional: Nuts, candy flavorings, coloring

Instructions

  1. Prepare your space: Butter a marble slab or large baking sheet.
  2. Combine ingredients: In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, mix the sugar, cream, corn syrup, and salt. Cook over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Allow to cook until it reaches 260°F (127°C).
  3. Cool it down: Pour the hot mixture onto the prepared surface and let it cool for 10-15 minutes.
  4. Butter your hands: Once cool enough to handle, butter your hands and start pulling the candy for 10-15 minutes.
  5. Shape and cut: After pulling, shape into ½-inch thick ropes and cut into bite-sized pieces. Let sit on wax paper until set.

Notes

Store the candy in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two weeks. It can also be frozen for 2-3 months.
