Description
This creamy Lebanese Fatteh comes together in about 30 minutes and is perfect for a quick and easy weeknight dinner. It’s all about comfort and layering flavors!

- 2 large pita breads, torn into bite-sized pieces
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (for toasting)
- 1 15 oz can of chickpeas, drained and rinsed
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 2 cups full-fat plain yogurt (Greek-style preferred)
- 2 cloves garlic, finely minced or crushed
- 2 tablespoons tahini
- Juice of 1 lemon
- Salt to taste (starting with ½ teaspoon)
- ¼ cup pine nuts or slivered almonds
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter or ghee
- 1 teaspoon ground sumac
- ½ cup pickled turnips, sliced thin
- 2 tablespoons chopped parsley (optional)
- Pomegranate seeds, paprika, or Aleppo pepper for garnish
Instructions
- Toast the Pita: Heat a skillet over medium heat, add torn pita pieces, and drizzle with olive oil. Toss for about 3-5 minutes until golden and crispy.
- Warm the Chickpeas: Add chickpeas, ground cumin, and salt to the skillet. Stir for 2-3 minutes until warm.
- Prepare the Yogurt Sauce: Mix yogurt, garlic, tahini, lemon juice, and salt in a bowl until smooth and creamy.
- Toast the Nuts: Melt butter or ghee in a small saucepan, add pine nuts or almonds, and stir until golden brown (2-4 minutes).
- Assemble the Fatteh: On a platter, layer crispy pita, warm chickpeas, drizzle yogurt sauce, and top with toasted nuts, pickled turnips, and other desired garnishes.
- Serve Immediately: Enjoy while the pita is still crispy!
