- 4 pounds pork shoulder (bone-in or boneless)
- 1 cup barbecue sauce (tangy-sweet)
- 2 medium onions, sliced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- Salt, to taste
- Pepper, to taste
- Buns for serving (optional)
Instructions
- Place sliced onions and minced garlic in the bottom of the slow cooker.
- Season the pork shoulder with smoked paprika, cumin, salt, and pepper, rubbing the mixture all over the meat.
- Layer the seasoned pork on top of the onions and garlic.
- Pour barbecue sauce over the pork, covering it completely.
- Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for about 8-10 hours until tender and easily shredded.
- Remove the pork from the cooker, shred it using two forks, and mix it with the juices from the pot.
- Serve on buns if desired.
