- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup grated cheese (such as Gruyère or Cheddar)
- 1 cup pumpkin puree
- 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a saucepan, combine the water and butter, and bring to a boil.
- Stir in the flour and salt, mixing until a dough forms, about 2 minutes.
- Remove from heat and let cool slightly for about 5 minutes.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition until the dough is smooth and glossy.
- Stir in the cheese, pumpkin puree, nutmeg, and pepper until well combined.
- Drop spoonfuls of the dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, until puffed and golden.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
These gougères are best served fresh but can be rewarmed in a preheated oven. They are also freezer-friendly before baking.
