Description

Delightful and fluffy pumpkin gougères that are quick and easy to make, perfect for cozy gatherings and versatile enough to use up leftovers.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup grated cheese (such as Gruyère or Cheddar)
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a saucepan, combine the water and butter, and bring to a boil.
  3. Stir in the flour and salt, mixing until a dough forms, about 2 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat and let cool slightly for about 5 minutes.
  5. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition until the dough is smooth and glossy.
  6. Stir in the cheese, pumpkin puree, nutmeg, and pepper until well combined.
  7. Drop spoonfuls of the dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes, until puffed and golden.
  9. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

These gougères are best served fresh but can be rewarmed in a preheated oven. They are also freezer-friendly before baking.
