Quick and easy brownies made with sourdough discard. A delightful dessert your family will love!
Ingredients

- 1 cup sourdough starter (discard)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×9 inch baking pan.
- Melt the butter over low heat and stir in the sourdough starter and sugar until well combined.
- Add in the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing well until smooth.
- Sift together the flour, cocoa powder, and salt in a separate bowl.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips, if using.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out with moist crumbs.
- Let cool before cutting into squares and serving.
Notes
These brownies keep well at room temperature for about 3-4 days. They can also be frozen for up to 3 months.
