Description

A delicious homemade Spiced Hot Cocoa that comes together in about 15 minutes for a cozy family treat.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups milk (or dairy-free alternative)
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons sugar (or sweetener of choice)
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • A pinch of cayenne pepper (optional)
  • Whipped cream or marshmallows (for topping)

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine the cocoa powder, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cayenne pepper (if using). Stir to blend the dry spices.
  2. Add a splash of milk to the dry mix and whisk until smooth to create a thick paste.
  3. Gradually whisk in the remaining milk, then heat on medium until hot but not boiling, stirring occasionally.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Pour into mugs and top with whipped cream or marshmallows.
