A delicious homemade Spiced Hot Cocoa that comes together in about 15 minutes for a cozy family treat.
Ingredients

- 2 cups milk (or dairy-free alternative)
- 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
- 2 tablespoons sugar (or sweetener of choice)
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
- A pinch of cayenne pepper (optional)
- Whipped cream or marshmallows (for topping)
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, combine the cocoa powder, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cayenne pepper (if using). Stir to blend the dry spices.
- Add a splash of milk to the dry mix and whisk until smooth to create a thick paste.
- Gradually whisk in the remaining milk, then heat on medium until hot but not boiling, stirring occasionally.
- Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
- Pour into mugs and top with whipped cream or marshmallows.
