Description
A quick and easy no-bake Tanghulu recipe that turns fresh fruit into a crunchy candy-coated treat your family will love!
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb strawberries, grapes, or other fruit of choice (~30 pieces)
- 2 cups white sugar
- 1 cup water
Instructions
- Wash and prep the fruit: Thoroughly wash your fruit and dry them well to avoid moisture affecting the candy coating. Remove leaves and stems and slice larger fruits if necessary.
- Skewer the fruit: Thread about 3 pieces of fruit onto each skewer, mixing for a rainbow effect.
- Make the syrup: In a pot, combine 2 cups sugar and 1 cup water without stirring. Bring to a boil over medium heat and let it bubble until it reaches a thick amber color.
- Check the syrup: Drop a spoonful of the syrup into ice water. If it hardens quickly, it’s ready; if not, give it a few more minutes.
- Dip and cool the fruit: Dip the fruit skewers into the syrup and then dunk them into ice water to cool. Place them on a parchment-lined plate to cool completely.
- Serve and enjoy: Once cooled, the Tanghulu is ready to serve or display and enjoy!
