- 1 lb chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- Marinate the chicken: Place chicken in a bowl, pour in buttermilk, cover and let marinate in fridge for at least 30 minutes.
- Prepare the coating: In a bowl, mix flour, cornstarch, powdered sugar, salt, paprika, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- Heat the oil: In a deep pan, heat about 2 inches of oil over medium-high heat.
- Coat the chicken: Lift chicken from buttermilk, let excess drip, then coat in flour mixture.
- Fry the chicken: Add chicken to hot oil in batches, frying for about 3-5 minutes per side until golden brown.
- Drain and serve: Use a slotted spoon to transfer nuggets to paper towels to drain excess oil.
Notes
Serve warm with dipping sauces like honey mustard, ranch, or BBQ. Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days.
