Description

These delightful homemade cheddar crackers are perfect for snacking, easy to make, and customizable with your favorite cheeses and herbs.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ½ cups sharp cheddar cheese, freshly grated
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 4 tablespoons cold unsalted butter, cubed
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon paprika (optional)
  • 23 tablespoons cold water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Whisk together the flour, salt, and paprika in a large bowl until evenly combined.
  3. Cut the cold butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in the cheddar cheese until well combined.
  5. Gradually add cold water, mixing until the dough just comes together.
  6. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and pat it into a rectangle about ½ inch thick.
  7. Roll the dough to about ¼ inch thick and cut into squares or rectangles.
  8. Poke holes in each cracker to prevent puffing using a fork.
  9. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

These crackers can be stored in an airtight container for about a week.
