- 1 lb ground beef (or turkey/chicken)
- 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 2 tbsp mustard
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Hot dogs of your choice
- Buns (soft burger buns or hoagies)
Instructions
- Heat a skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic and sauté for about 3-4 minutes until the onion is translucent.
- Brown the ground beef for about 5-7 minutes, draining any excess fat.
- Mix in the tomato sauce, ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and season with salt and pepper.
- Let the mixture simmer and then reduce the heat. Cook for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Serve the hot dog meat sauce over hot dogs in buns.
Notes
This sauce is customizable; feel free to add vegetables or switch up the proteins as desired. It can also be used as a topping for baked potatoes.
