Description

Delicious cookie bars made with salted caramel and brown sugar, perfect for a quick family treat.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1.5 cups packed light brown sugar
  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 2.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup salted caramel sauce
  • Sea salt flakes for sprinkling
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp whole milk or cream
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 tsp vanilla extract for the glaze

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cream together 1 cup of softened unsalted butter, 1.5 cups packed light brown sugar, and 0.5 cup granulated sugar until light and fluffy—about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Add in 2 room temperature eggs and 1 tsp of vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
  4. Whisk together 2.5 cups all-purpose flour, 1 tsp baking soda, 0.5 tsp salt, and 1 tsp ground cinnamon in a separate bowl.
  5. Combine the dry ingredients into your wet mixture.
  6. Fold in 1 cup of salted caramel sauce.
  7. Prepare a 9×13-inch baking dish by greasing it and pouring in the dough, spreading it evenly.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes until edges are golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Cool in the pan on a wire rack for 10-15 minutes.
  10. Whisk together 1 cup of powdered sugar, 2 tbsp of whole milk or cream, and 0.5 tsp vanilla extract for the glaze.
  11. Drizzle the glaze over the cooled cookie bars, and sprinkle with sea salt flakes.
  12. Slice into squares and serve.

Notes

Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra treat.
