Description
Tender and fluffy Hawaiian rolls made easy with sourdough starter, perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup active sourdough starter (fed and bubbly)
- 1 cup pineapple juice
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 3 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup honey
- 2 tablespoons melted butter (plus more for brushing)
- 1/2 tablespoon salt
Instructions
- Mix the Wet Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the sourdough starter, pineapple juice, milk, honey, melted butter, and salt. Stir until well mixed.
- Add the Flour: Gradually add the flour into the wet mixture and stir until you have a sticky dough.
- Let It Rise: Cover the bowl with a towel or plastic wrap and let it rise in a warm place for about 8 hours or overnight.
- Shape the Rolls: Lightly flour your work surface and turn your dough out. Divide it into 18 equal pieces, shaping each into a round roll.
- Let Them Rise Again: Place the rolls in a buttered 9×13-inch baking dish, cover, and let them rise until they double in size, about 1 to 2 hours.
- Preheat That Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake: Bake your rolls for about 30 minutes or until they are golden brown.
- Brush with Butter & Serve Warm: Remove the rolls from the oven and brush the tops with melted butter. Serve warm.
